What we store
Your account details (name, email, password hash), the check-ins and sessions you create, any photos you upload, venues you enter, your crews, your notification and timezone preferences, and the push subscription your browser creates if you turn notifications on.
Location
Location is only used when you tap "Use my location" to match a venue, or once automatically if your browser has already granted us permission; it never runs in the background. To turn coordinates into a venue name, we send them to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service, nothing else about you goes with them, and you can always type a venue by hand instead.
Who sees your check-ins
People who follow you, and the crews you join. Crew leaderboards only rank sessions from the day each member joined.
Who else touches your data
Birava runs on Vercel, with Neon storing the database and Vercel Blob storing your photos. If you turn on notifications, they're delivered through your browser's own push service (Google, Apple, or Mozilla). None of them can use your data for anything beyond keeping Birava running.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data, we don't run advertising trackers, and we don't hand your check-ins to anyone beyond the services listed above.
Deleting your account
Request it from Settings and you're logged out everywhere immediately, with your profile hidden from crews and followers. Everything is permanently erased after a 7-day grace period; log back in during that window and it's cancelled instead. Encrypted backups, kept only for disaster recovery, take up to 400 days longer to age out.
Your rights
Beyond deleting your account yourself, GDPR gives you the right to see what we hold on you, have it corrected, or get a copy of it.
Contact
There's no dedicated contact channel yet, so requests like that don't have anywhere concrete to go right now. This is a small project built in the evenings, and it's on the list to fix as that changes.
